We can only be amazed at all these species that swarm on the globe. It is unfortunate to note the little means given to botanists, zoologists, ornithologists, ichthyologists, entomologists, as well as to microbiology to index the living. While each year on the blue planet, 37 million acres are destroyed. Not to mention polluted land, degraded seas and oceans.

We should put the conquest of space aside, knowing that cosmic radiation poses an insoluble problem for the time being in terms of sending humans to the Moon or Mars. And instead focus on preserving the living. Maybe concentrate humans in green megacities and leave the open spaces to the living so that the diversity of the fauna and the flora prevail again.

So if we believe this table, on Earth, we have :

1 quindecillion (thousand of billion of quintillion of quintillion) of microorganisms,
100 decillion (quadrillion of quintillion) of akaryocytes,
500 setpillion (million of quintillion) of plants,
48 quintillion (billion of billion) of insects,
1 quintillion (billion of billion) of crustaceans,
190 quadrillion (million of billion) of molluscs,
45 quadrillion (million of billion) of fishes,
100 trillion (thousand of billion) of earthworms,
396 billion of mammals,
103 billion of reptiles,
31 billion of birds,
2.3 billion of amphibians.
