Each year, nearly 6,400 people are affected by the bacteria; 15% of them die.
Legionellosis occurs when the concentration of microorganism is too high in hot water pipes.
Researchers at CNRS in France developed the Legio EZ-Test, a kit that would detect bacteria, thanks to the presence of a sugar on the surface of Legionella pneumophilala. Their procedure adds a marker to this molecule in order to visualize it, this one appears 48 hours after its setting, against 15 days for the current technique.
It will be marketed at the end of June 2017.
