The International Space Station was launched as a project in 1983 after studies carried out in the 1960s and 1970s. Implementation will wait until 1998 for budgetary matters.
It is estimated that the international space station has cost more than US$ 115 billion to date. A cost denounced by detractors with very little interest regarding the results or potential of the experiments carried out within it.
The station has a laboratory, an observatory of the Earth and space, a base for departing missions.
The theoretical end of the station was fixed in 2024.
