Canonical, in collaboration with Microsoft has announced a layer for the Ubuntu versions that will integrate the compatibility mode with Windows softwares and application under Linux.

No virtual machine here. Nor exe will be supported natively. From Ubuntu, you will be able to launche the Windows store to setup Microsoft applications.

That means that all the last games that you can play on Microsoft will be playable on Ubuntu, with DirectX11 on this operating system. With the condition of course to have a device enough powerful to run the last generation games.

This layer will be available in april 2017.

Edit : it was only an april fool…
