Not all graphics cards give the same results when you mine Ethereum. They do not have the same properties and the same type of memory.
Let’s see what are the fastest models and which cards are the most profitable.

Older NVIDIA models, with Geforce GTX 9XX or recent models with only 2GB of memory are too slow or do not have enough VRAM memory to mine this cryptocurrency.
As we see, some cards are specifically dedicated to mining. They may have no DVI-D output, they have a second BIOS that has been optimized for cryptocurrencies. The frequency of the GPU is lower than those of conventional graphics cards, just like the voltage. The VRAM has been overclocked. The latency has been optimized. In the end the performance is significantly improved.
Then, it is not necessary to have a big configuration for the PC. A first price processor, a medium motherboard, 4 GB DDR3-1333, a 32GB SSD hard drive, and a power supply of 450W are enough.
Graphics cards VBios optimization
It is possible to optimize the VBios to increase the yield. This essentially consists of modifying the timings of VRAM using software such as AtiWinFlash and PolarisBiosEditor. Thanks to this last tool, we can easily apply the required timings at each level. Changing the frequencies, adding “straps” allows to go even further in increasing the results. ATI Radeon cards must then be patched with ATI Pixel Clock Patcher, so the card will work with its modified VBios.
