AMD beats the record of the number of cores in a processor

AMD expands the range of EPYC processors to compete with Xeon Platinum. Especially, the Xeon Platinum 8180M which has more than 28 physical cores and 56 threads. This Intel processor is sold for $ 13 011.

AMD EPYC includes moreover 7601, 7501, 7551 and 7551P.

They have more than 32 physical cores and 64 threads. It is possible to multiply by two this number of cores with a double sockets motherboard.

The basic clock speed is 2.2 GHz, the boost rises to 2.7 GHz, the Turbo max to 3.2 GHz. The L3 cache memory is 64 MB. The TDP is 180 W. The price of the AMD EPYC 7601 is $4 000, or 9 000 dollars less than the Platinum 8180M.
